Report: Inner Mongolia Mengtai begins construction of aluminium alloy project 

SHANGHAI, Jun 20 (SMM) – Inner Mongolia Mengtai Group commenced construction of its high-end aluminium alloy project, with a capacity of 200,000 mt/year, at Dalad Banner Economic Development Zone in Inner Mongolia on June 18, local news media reported. 

With an investment of 2 billion yuan, this is a subproject under Mengtai Group’s 900,000-mt/year aluminium plate and strip project. 

The subproject is designed with eight melting and casting lines. Phase-one capacity of 100,000 mt will come online in 2020. 

With molten aluminium produced by the Group as feedstock, the subproject produces high-end aluminium alloy materials that could be used as alternatives for imports and widely applied in automobile manufacturing, rail transport, as well as electronic, military, and aviation fields. 

Upon full operation, the aluminium alloy project is have a production value exceeding 5 billion yuan.
